Product advertising continues onto the packaging itself, selling directly to the customer off the shelf. Using bold graphics, informative content, and user-friendly layouts is key to closing the deal.

Invis-A-Rack by Dee Zee

Goal

Before partnering with Dee Zee, Invis-A-Rack appeared on ABC's "Shark Tank" television program looking for investment backers. After failing to entice any of the "sharks", the inventor signed a deal with Dee Zee to produce and market this innovative truck rack.  I was put in charge of coming up with a new 'merged branding mark', and the updated packaging. This included a Standard box (covering 3 part numbers) and a Universal version – originally sold in Costco stores. The box features vibrant, eye-catching colors & graphics, lifestyle images, and illustrations. All of this translated into 3 languages so it can be sold internationally.

Product Labeling

TSC Tool Box Labels

Goal

Tractor Supply Company is a national farm & fleet retailer that sells vehicle accessories. They came to us looking for a new set of labeling for the tool boxes they sell in their stores. Divided into 3 levels of features (Gold, Silver, & Bronze), my team developed a full set featuring detail call-outs, in-vehicle images (which we photographed), fitment guides, and a rating system. Like a template, all of this could easily be replicated across their entire, evolving line-up – with multiple manufacturers involved that build their private label products.

Padlock Tool Box Labels

Goal

Dee Zee's newest innovation in truck storage came with the Padlock Tool Box line-up. The hook is that it's one of the most secure tool boxes on the market, thanks to a sliding rod latch system, secured by an inset user-provided padlock. Since it's a brand new concept, it presented a challenge of how to communicate how it works to consumers. What we came up with was a set of 3 universal labels that can be used across all 14 part numbers in the line-up. On the front is a large label with feature call-outs and pics - illustrating how it works. On the end is a smaller label with condensed info.  Finally the kicker is a fake padlock hanger, installed inside the latch - further driving home the functionality. The labels feature dynamic, angular layouts, vibrant images, and a hands-on call to action.
